The Edgewater Beach Hotel was located in Chicago directly next to Lake Michigan. The hotel sat 20 feet from the water's edge. It originally had 400 rooms and opened in 1916. The hotel boasted a 1200 foot private beach an offered seaplane service to downtown Chicago. The hotel hosted many guests such as Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Charlie Chaplin, Bette Davis, Dwight Eisenhower, etc. Big Bands always frequented - Benny Goodmann, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, and Artie Shaw all played there in the summer on the Beach Walk. 100% Cotton slouch.
